# Tips and Tricks: Changing the default field editor options

> If you have been looking for a way to change the default option that is being offered when creating new fields in the field editor, look no further!

Kentico 7 ships with new form engine settings. These settings allow you to select which form controls should be the default options when creating new fields for document types, custom tables, on-line forms etc:

*Tip: You can achieve similar behavior in version 6, by simply renaming the display names of form controls (i.e. \_Text box will make it default).*

Happy tuning!
